Norwich Airport images
Welcome to the Norwich airport section. This contains various images of the arrivals and departures.
Norwich Airport opened in 1968, and is sited on a former World War 2 base, and became a local airport serving the surrounding area, with the main terminal opening in 1988. In 1971 the airport began charter flights with Air Anglia, and its successor, Air UK was also based at Norwich. Aviogenix, JAT, and Britannia Airways joined regularly in the the 1990's, and Air Europa flew in occasionally. Current operators include KLM, Loganair, Flybe, TUI Airways, Thomas Cook, Aurigny, BH Air and Freebird. Helicopters are busy at Norwich, with Bristows, Babcock, CHC scotia, NHV helicopters, and the East Anglia Air Ambulance. Saxon Air charter and flight support are also based here. Maintenance flights are quite frequent, and the spray shops receive aircraft regularly.
Norwich had 3 runways, 17/35, 09/27, and 04/22. 17-35 is now closed and used for taxing purposes, and 09-27 is the main runway, with a hopeful extension coming at some point.
